Apple II ProDOS Bootable 1MB ROM Drive v4.0 Solid State Drive Card
Available for sale is this new ProDOS Solid State ROM card for the Apple II computer.  Has been tested fully on an original Apple IIe, providing lightning fast booting into a fully functional ProDOS installation without requiring a floppy drive.  It manages to achieve that in approximately two seconds.  The contents of the ROMcard are permanent in so far as it is read-only such that the programs are always available.
The ProDOS ROM card comes to you preprogrammed with the default example selection of games provided on the original developers Github site.
CiderPress or another utility supporting the Apple ProDOS filesystem may be additionally used with a blank ROM image to create your own custom software selection.

The supplied EPROM is a 27C801 UV erasable device. A suitable UV EPROM eraser and an EPROM programmer will be required to reprogram the EPROM. Care should be taken when removing and re-installing the 32-pin EPROM. Please note that only ProDOS compatible programs may be run with this particular firmware implementation. Apple DOS programs cannot be used unless the program is amended appropriately. Full firmware source code is available from the designer's GitHub page.
This expansion card may be used in any of the Apple II expansion slot and will be the first to boot regardless of any disk controller present. To boot from a normal disk controller, please select "BASIC.SYSTEM" to exit to ProDOS and type PR#6 to boot from that device as per normal.
Due to the nature of vintage electronics and the fact that it must be installed into the users computer, the card in this listing is sold for parts or repair, as is, without warranty.
