2 speed transmission

Extra large turret depth stop allows return to most frequently used thickness with ease
The Byrd Shelix cutterhead was installed when I bought this machine new. On this cutterhead are many four-sided solid carbide cutters, each of which can be loosened and turned to expose a fresh new cutting edge. On this machine the original settings all remain. I have never had to change the cutters, and they are still sharp on the initial side. So, three fresh cutting sides remain on all of the carbide cutters. This optional cutterhead cost me almost 0.00 alone, and was well worth it.
These Byrd Shelix cutterheads give an amazingly smooth surface cut, with less tear-out than conventional blades.
The many controls on this machine make it easy to make precise cuts and end up exactly at the thickness you desire.
I have used the planer with an Oneida dust collector and a 4 inch flexible exhaust hose. This worked perfectly with the on-board chip ejection fan.
The metal shelves make it easier to feed stock into the machine and retrieve it on the back end.
Two shiny metal pieces on the top allow you to slide/return a piece to the front for further planing.
This machine is in excellent condition. I bought it with the Wixley digital gauge, which as it turns out I have never used, as I use a calipers to measure for the final thickness of my planed piece.
All great projects begin with properly milled lumber. Up your game with this great machine!
